AC Smith was founded in 1928 by Arnold Charles Smith and was originally located in Commercial Road, Durban. Back in those days transportation was primarily by horse or horse and cart and customers would leave their horses at AC Smith whilst they shopped in Durban. While Clients shopped the Farriers would tend to their horses. Clients would then come back and shop at AC Smith for all their saddlery requirements. The company was later taken over by Arnold Smith’s children, John & Jackie Smith, and was expanded into a leading wholesaler and manufacturer of equestrian goods.
